Azawakh

The Azawakh is a breed that originated in West Africa, particularly in the Sahara desert region. It was primarily developed as a sighthound for hunting game such as hare, gazelle, and wild boar. Azawakhs have a slim and elegant build, with a height between 23-29 inches (58-74 cm) and weighing between 33-55 pounds (15-25 kg). They have a short and fine coat that comes in various colors and patterns, including fawn, brindle, and white markings. Azawakhs are known for their speed, endurance, and independent nature. They are highly active dogs that require regular exercise and mental stimulation to prevent boredom and restlessness. Azawakhs have a strong prey drive and should be kept in a secure, fenced area or on a leash when outside. They can be reserved with strangers but are generally loyal and affectionate with their families. Azawakhs can adapt to both indoor and outdoor living but thrive when they have opportunities to run and explore. Early training and socialization are important to establish a good bond with them and ensure they become well-mannered and well-adjusted companions.
