Alaskan Malamute

The Alaskan Malamute is a large and powerful sled dog breed that originated in the Arctic regions of Alaska. It was originally bred for pulling heavy loads in harsh conditions. Alaskan Malamutes have a strong and sturdy build, with males standing between 24-26 inches (61-66 cm) tall and weighing around 85 pounds (39 kg) on average. Females are slightly smaller. They have a thick double coat that provides insulation and protection from the cold. Alaskan Malamutes are known for their friendly and affectionate nature. They are highly social dogs and enjoy being part of a family. While they can adapt to living indoors, they require plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. Alaskan Malamutes have a strong prey drive and may not be suitable for households with small animals. Early training and socialization are important to establish boundaries and ensure they grow into well-behaved companions. They thrive in colder climates and are happiest when they have space to roam and explore.
