Anatolian Shepherd Dog
The Anatolian Shepherd Dog, also known as the Anatolian, is a large and powerful breed that originated in Turkey. It was primarily developed as a livestock guardian dog, protecting flocks against predators. Anatolian Shepherd Dogs have a sturdy and muscular build, with a height between 26-31 inches (66-79 cm) and weighing between 80-150 pounds (36-68 kg). They have a medium-length double coat that provides insulation. Anatolians are known for their protective and independent nature. They are loyal and devoted to their families and can be gentle and affectionate with them. However, due to their guardian instincts, they can be reserved and aloof with strangers. Anatolian Shepherd Dogs require early socialization and consistent training to ensure they become well-mannered and well-behaved adult dogs. They need regular exercise and a securely fenced yard to fulfill their exercise needs and protect their territory. Anatolians are not suitable for apartment living and thrive in rural or suburban areas where they have space to roam and fulfill their natural instincts.
