Black Forest Hound

The Black Forest Hound, also known as the Schwarzwaldstober, is a medium-sized scent hound breed originating from Germany. It was primarily bred for tracking and hunting game in the Black Forest region. Black Forest Hounds have a sturdy and muscular build, standing 52-58 cm tall and weighing 20-25 kg. They have a short and dense coat that requires minimal grooming. Black Forest Hounds are outdoor dogs that thrive in a rural or active environment. They are known for their excellent scenting abilities and endurance. Black Forest Hounds are intelligent, independent, and driven. They require regular exercise and mental stimulation to keep them physically and mentally healthy. Proper training and socialization are important for Black Forest Hounds to develop into well-mannered and obedient dogs. Due to their hunting background, they may have a high prey drive and should be supervised around small animals.
