Akbash
The Akbash is a large and powerful breed that originated in Turkey. It was primarily bred for guarding livestock and protecting them from predators. Akbash dogs have a muscular build and a thick white coat that helps them blend with the flock they protect. Males typically stand between 28-34 inches (71-86 cm) tall, while females are slightly smaller. They weigh between 90-130 pounds (41-59 kg). Akbash dogs are known for their calm and independent nature, making them excellent guardians. They are typically suited for outdoor living, as they require space to roam and fulfill their natural instincts. Early socialization and proper training are important to ensure they understand their role as protectors and interact well with other animals and people. While they can be reserved with strangers, they are usually loyal and gentle with their family members.
